What this bill would do
The ATC Protection Act aims to regulate changes to the Federal Aviation Administration workforce. It requires the Secretary of Transportation to get explicit approval from Congress before reducing, replacing, or outsourcing 1 percent or more of the FAA workforce. Before seeking this approval, the Secretary must submit a report explaining the decision and its impact on the aviation and transportation system. Additionally, the bill prevents the Administrator of the Department of Governmental Efficiency from exercising control over the FAA. Finally, the bill prohibits the privatization or outsourcing of the air traffic control system.
