What this bill would do
The Fix Moldy Housing Act aims to assist State and Tribal governments in assessing and remediating mold. The EPA Administrator will first commission a study through the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine to establish proper assessment and remediation methods. Following this, the Administrator will issue nonbinding national standards for identifying and handling mold. The bill establishes a program to provide grants to State and Tribal governments for creating licensing programs and providing technical assistance and training. Additionally, it provides grants for assessing and remediating mold in government-owned buildings and private residential properties. These funds also cover temporary housing costs for certain severely impacted individuals.
