What this bill would do
This bill seeks to amend the Congressional Budget and Impoundment Control Act of 1974. It would allow the chair of certain House and Senate committees to request budget estimates from private accounting firms instead of the Congressional Budget Office. These private estimates would be used for budget enforcement purposes regarding specific bills or resolutions. The bill also defines a "private reputable accounting firm" as one of the ten largest firms registered with the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board. If a private firm is used, the Congressional Budget Office would not be required to prepare an estimate.
