What this bill would do
The Promoting Precision Agriculture Act aims to increase the use of precision agriculture throughout the United States. It directs the Secretary of Agriculture to work with the National Institute of Standards and Technology and the Federal Communications Commission to create voluntary, private sector-led standards for interconnectivity. These standards are intended to ease the adoption of precision agriculture and promote economies of scale. Additionally, the Act requires the Comptroller General to conduct periodic studies to assess the effectiveness and nature of these standards. The ultimate goal is to enhance precision agriculture participation and promote U.S. leadership in setting industry standards.
