What this bill would do
This bill, known as the "Veterans Fellowship Act," directs the Assistant Secretary of Labor for Veterans' Employment and Training to implement a pilot program for short-term fellowship programs. The program allows a State to use grants or contracts to facilitate these fellowships. The Assistant Secretary will select between three and five States to participate. Each chosen State must partner with a non-profit organization to run the program. Fellows will work with an employer for up to 20 weeks while receiving a monthly stipend. The goal is to provide veterans with opportunities for long-term employment following the fellowship.
