What this bill would do
This bill, known as the "Safe Storage Lockers for House Office Buildings Act," allows certain House of Representatives employees to bring specific weapons into House office buildings for secure storage. Employees must be authorized under District of Columbia law to carry these weapons outside the buildings. Upon entry through an external pedestrian entrance, the individual must leave the weapon in a storage locker operated by the United States Capitol Police. The Capitol Police Board is responsible for designing, installing, and operating these lockers at building entrances within 180 days. This measure is intended to address safety concerns for employees who commute to and from their offices in the District of Columbia.
