What this bill would do
This Act, known as the "Global Investment in American Jobs Act of 2025," directs the Secretary of Commerce to lead an interagency review. The goal is to find ways to make the United States more competitive in attracting foreign direct investment from responsible private-sector entities in trusted countries. This review involves coordinating with various federal departments and the Government Accountability Office. The review will look at economic impacts on manufacturing, services, and jobs, while addressing trade barriers in the digital economy. It specifically examines the challenges posed by State-owned or State-backed enterprises. Finally, the Secretary must submit a report with recommendations to Congress within one year.
