What this bill would do
The Student Debt Alternative and CTE Awareness Act requires the Secretary of Education to disclose specific information regarding career and technical education. This information must include program costs, completion times, and employment rates, along with available funding opportunities in each State. The Secretary is tasked with publishing this on the Office of Federal Student Aid website and keeping it updated. Additionally, the bill mandates that FAFSA applications include a one-page summary of this information and an acknowledgment signature box. This is intended to make students aware of career and technical education as an alternative to a 4-year degree. Finally, the Act specifies that no additional funds are authorized for its implementation.
