What this bill would do
This Act, known as the "Flatside Wilderness Additions Act," seeks to designate the Flatside-Bethune Wilderness within the Ouachita National Forest. It amends the Arkansas Wilderness Act of 1984 to include approximately 2,212 acres of land. The bill updates the name of the wilderness area to the "Flatside-Bethune Wilderness." It also ensures that existing references to the portion of the Flatside Wilderness are updated to reflect this new name. Additionally, the act clarifies that it does not limit the Secretary of Agriculture's authority regarding fire, insects, and diseases.
