What this bill would do

This bill, known as the "End of GSE Conservatorship Preparation Act of 2025," directs the Secretary of the Treasury to act regarding Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. It requires a report to be submitted to specific House and Senate committees within 30 days of the Act's enactment. This report must identify if proposals to terminate the conservatorships of these entities have been completed. If these proposals are not finished, the Secretary must include the latest incomplete drafts in the report. Finally, the Secretary is required to complete and submit these proposals within 90 days of the Act's enactment.
