What this bill would do
This bill is known as the American Homes First Act. It was introduced in the House of Representatives by Mr. Pappas. The bill deals with providing funding for the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program. It stops certain previously appropriated funds from going to the Board of Peace. Instead, it transfers one billion dollars of those funds to the Secretary of Health and Human Services. These transferred funds will then be used to carry out the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Act of 1981 for fiscal year 2027.
