What this bill would do
This bill requires the Environmental Protection Agency to set up a research program focused on tropospheric ozone. It creates a competitive grant program for institutions of higher education, National Laboratories, and nonprofit research entities. The research will look at how tropospheric ozone impacts climate, temperatures, crop loss, and forest productivity. The Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency must make certain monitoring data and annual reports publicly available. Finally, the bill authorizes specific funding amounts from fiscal year 2027 through fiscal year 2030 to carry out these activities.
