What this bill would do

This bill is called the American Citizenship Integrity Act. It aims to stop what is known as birth tourism and protect United States citizenship. The legislation creates a new crime for trafficking people into the country to get citizenship for a child by having them born here. It also makes individuals who seek admission for this purpose inadmissible to the United States. Additionally, the bill sets up an interagency task force to coordinate investigations, prosecutions, and denaturalization proceedings. Finally, it requires the appointment of specific assistant United States attorneys in each judicial district to handle these cases.
