What this bill would do
This bill is called the Fast Track Disaster Relief Act. It changes the Internal Revenue Code of 1986. The bill requires the sharing of tax return information with the Small Business Administration. This sharing is done for the purpose of carrying out the Disaster Loan Program. The Secretary must disclose this information upon receiving a written request from the Small Business Administration Administrator. The information is strictly for taxpayers who apply for a loan under section 7(b) of the Small Business Act.

Who it would affect, and how
Potential Positive Impacts for People
- Section 2(a) requires the Secretary to disclose return information to the Small Business Administration upon a written request from the Administrator. This is for taxpayers who apply for a loan under section 7(b) of the Small Business Act. This could be positive because it helps the Small Business Administration determine a taxpayer's eligibility for these disaster loans.
Potential Negative Impacts for People
- Section 2(a) allows the Small Business Administration to receive taxpayer return information upon written request for disaster loan applicants. This could be considered a negative or a burden because it requires the sharing of private tax return information with another government agency, even though the bill restricts its use only to determining loan eligibility.
