What this bill would do
This bill, known as the "Registration Enforcement for Vehicle Operations of Known Evaders Act" or the "REVOKE Act," proposes amendments to title 49 of the United States Code. It seeks to change the requirement for conducting certain commercial motor vehicle operations from just having a USDOT number to having an active one. Under this act, the Secretary must ensure an employer or person meets all registration requirements before issuing an active USDOT Number. Additionally, the Secretary is directed to immediately inactivate USDOT Numbers if an employer lacks a valid registration or fails to make required periodic updates.

Potential Negative Impacts for People
- Operational restrictions for non-compliant employers: An employer or person may be unable to conduct operations requiring registration if their USDOT number is inactivated due to a lack of valid registration or failure to provide required periodic updates (Section 2, subsection (e)(3)).
