What this bill would do
This bill is called the Hands Off Our Great Lakes Act. It stops the President, the Secretary of the Interior, and any federal workers from changing the official geographic names of Lake Superior, Lake Michigan, Lake Huron, Lake Erie, and Lake Ontario. The bill also completely cancels Executive Order 14422, which was issued on August 27, 2026, and had renamed Lake Ontario to Lake America. Furthermore, it stops the government from using any federal money or taking any actions to carry out that order or anything similar to it.
