What this bill would do
This bill, known as the ``Part D Premium Protection Act of 2026'', directs the Secretary of Health and Human Services to create a temporary premium credit for 2027. This credit applies to people enrolled in prescription drug plans under Medicare Part D. The credit amount is based on the average premium reduction seen during the Part D Premium Stabilization Demonstration. The Secretary must establish a process to notify plan sponsors of the credit amount. Plan sponsors will then charge enrollees the regular premium minus the credit amount. Finally, the Secretary will pay the subtracted credit amount to the plan sponsors.
