What this amendment would do

As folks keeping an eye on our elected officials, we need to know what this amendment is all about. Mr. Paul submitted SA 999, which is an amendment intended to be proposed to the concurrent resolution setting forth the congressional budget for the United States Government for fiscal year 2025 and setting forth the appropriate budgetary levels for fiscal years 2026 through 2034.

The purpose of this amendment is to strike a specific section of the text and replace it with a new Title II--Reconciliation. This new title tells specific committees in both the House of Representatives and the Senate to report changes in laws within their jurisdictions that either reduce the deficit or increase the deficit by certain dollar amounts for the period of fiscal years 2025 through 2034. It also sets a deadline of March 7, 2025, for these committees to submit their recommendations to their respective Budget Committees.
