What this amendment would do

Mr. Markey submitted amendment numbered SA 993 to the concurrent resolution on the budget for fiscal year 2025. The purpose of this amendment is to add a deficit-neutral reserve fund relating to subsistence resources important to Alaska Native communities.

What It Aims to Change or Add

  • It adds a new section at the end of title III of the budget resolution.

  • It allows the Chairman of the Senate Committee on the Budget to revise committee allocations, aggregates, and other appropriate levels.

  • It allows adjustments to the pay-as-you-go ledger for legislation relating to ensuring the protection of subsistence resources important to Alaska Native communities in the Arctic.

  • It requires that any such legislation does not increase the deficit over the total period of fiscal years 2025 through 2034.
