What this amendment would do
This amendment was submitted by Mr. Whitehouse for the congressional budget. Common sense tells us we need to keep our elected officials accountable for how they handle our tax dollars and budget rules.
What the Amendment Changes
-
The amendment adds a new section to the budget resolution for a deficit-neutral reserve fund.
-
It allows the Chairman of the Committee on the Budget of the Senate to change committee allocations, aggregates, and other levels.
-
These changes can be made for legislation relating to investing in the United States industrial base.
-
This investment may include increasing military assistance to Ukraine or helping Ukraine defend against the unprovoked aggression of Russia.
-
Any legislation using this fund must not increase the deficit over the total period of fiscal years 2025 through 2034.
