What this amendment would do
This amendment was submitted by Mr. Wyden, along with Mr. Merkley, for the concurrent resolution setting forth the congressional budget for the United States Government for fiscal year 2025 and budgetary levels through 2034.
Purpose and Changes
-
The purpose of the amendment is to create a point of order against legislation that would eliminate funding for Coast Guard childcare development centers and family housing.
-
It aims to stop the reprogramming of remaining unobligated balances of funding provided under title V of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act for the Coast Guard for operations and support and procurement, construction, and improvements.
-
It establishes that this rule can only be waived or suspended, or an appeal of the ruling of the Chair sustained, by an affirmative vote of three-fifths of the Senators duly chosen and sworn.
