What this amendment would do
Mr. Cruz submitted an amendment, numbered SA 956, to the concurrent resolution on the budget for the United States Government for fiscal year 2025.
Purpose and Changes
The amendment aims to add a new deficit-neutral reserve fund relating to preventing carbon taxes or fees at the end of title III.
It allows the Chairman of the Committee on the Budget of the Senate to make adjustments and revise allocations, aggregates, and the pay-as-you-go ledger for legislation relating to the protection of American jobs and consumers.
- This may include prohibiting a tax or fee on carbon emissions.
- The changes are allowed as long as the legislation does not increase the deficit over the total fiscal years 2025 through 2029 or the total fiscal years 2025 through 2034.
