What this amendment would do
-
Mr. Cruz submitted SA 955 as an amendment intended to be proposed to the concurrent resolution on the budget for fiscal year 2025 through 2034.
-
The purpose of the amendment is to add a deficit-neutral reserve fund relating to prohibiting the purchase of United States agricultural land by members or entities affiliated with the Chinese Communist Party.
-
It aims to allow the Chairman of the Committee on the Budget of the Senate to revise allocations, aggregates, and other levels for legislation that prohibits these land purchases to protect United States national security and preserve domestic agricultural production.
-
The changes may include limiting or withholding tax credits, Federal funding, loans, or grants to any entity found to be facilitating those purchases, provided the legislation does not increase the deficit over the fiscal years 2025 through 2034.
