What this amendment would do
This amendment was submitted by Mr. Cruz and aims to add a deficit-neutral reserve fund relating to taxation of tips to the concurrent resolution.
The purpose of this addition is to allow the Chairman of the Senate Committee on the Budget to revise budget allocations and make adjustments for legislation related to the taxation of tips. This could include providing a deduction for traditionally tipped employees to deduct their tipped wages when determining their Federal income taxes.
The catch that keeps our officials accountable is that this legislation must not increase the deficit over the total fiscal years from 2025 through 2029 or from 2025 through 2034.
