What this amendment would do

Mr. Hickenlooper submitted this amendment to the congressional budget resolution for fiscal year 2025. The purpose of this amendment is to create a deficit-neutral reserve fund relating to school safety.

How It Changes the Bill

This amendment adds a new section to the end of title III of the budget. It allows the Chairman of the Committee on the Budget of the Senate to revise budget allocations and make adjustments for legislation dealing with school safety.

The amendment notes that this school safety legislation may include prohibiting school resource officers from assisting with immigration enforcement operations on children during school hours on school property.

Any changes made for this purpose are allowed as long as the legislation would not increase the deficit over the total period of fiscal years 2025 through 2034.
