What this amendment would do

Mr. Hickenlooper submitted an amendment, designated as SA 934, which aims to add a new point of order to title IV of the budget resolution.

  • The purpose of this amendment is to protect nursing home funding by making it out of order in the Senate to consider any measure that would reduce funding for Medicaid, which provides coverage for more than 6 in 10 residents in nursing home facilities.

  • To change or bypass this rule, the amendment requires an affirmative vote of three-fifths of the Members, duly chosen and sworn, to either waive or suspend the point of order, or to sustain an appeal of the ruling of the Chair.
