What this amendment would do
This is amendment SA 913, submitted by Mr. Markey and Ms. Warren. Its purpose is to create a deficit-neutral reserve fund relating to a prohibition on hospital executives paying themselves debt-funded dividends from health systems or dividends from real estate sales.
To put it in plain English for us and hold our officials accountable, this amendment aims to allow the Chairman of the Committee on the Budget of the Senate to revise allocations and make adjustments for legislation that bans hospital executives from putting money in their own pockets through debt-funded dividends from health systems or dividends from real estate sales, as long as that legislation does not increase the deficit from fiscal year 2025 through fiscal year 2034.
