What this amendment would do
As folks who want to keep an eye on how our government is being run, we need to know what our elected officials are trying to do with our time and money. Ms. Warren, along with Mr. Markey, put forward this amendment to put a complete stop to Senate business until specific workers get their jobs back.
Purpose and Changes
The purpose of this amendment is to add a new rule to the budget resolution. This rule sets up a point of order in the Senate, which is basically a procedural stop sign.
- It aims to block the Senate from considering any bill, joint resolution, motion, amendment, or conference report.
- This block stays in place until all Massachusetts-based probationary employees of the Department of Health and Human Services who were fired since January 20, 2025, are reinstated.
- The rule can only be waived, suspended, or gotten around if three-fifths of the Senators vote to do so.
- 2/20/2025
- 1 Cosponsor added.
