S.Amdt. 891

As folks looking out for the people and holding our officials accountable, we need to know what our lawmakers are trying to get into the budget. Mrs. Murray submitted amendment numbered SA 891, which deals with the congressional budget for the United States Government for fiscal years 2025 through 2034.

The purpose of this amendment is to add a new section to title III that sets up a deficit-neutral reserve fund relating to military readiness. It gives the Chairman of the Committee on the Budget of the Senate the power to change committee allocations, aggregates, and other levels in the resolution. They can also adjust the pay-as-you-go ledger for bills, joint resolutions, amendments, amendments between the Houses, motions, or conference reports.

• The legislation must relate to ensuring military readiness and fiscal responsibility.
• It may include limiting the use of Coast Guard or Department of Defense air and sea assets for immigration enforcement.
• The changes can only happen by the amounts provided in such legislation, provided that the legislation would not increase the deficit over the total period of fiscal years 2025 through 2034.
