What this amendment would do
Mr. Peters submitted amendment SA 821 to the concurrent resolution setting forth the congressional budget for the United States Government for fiscal year 2025 and setting forth the appropriate budgetary levels for fiscal years 2026 through 2034.
The purpose of this amendment is to add a deficit-neutral reserve fund relating to lowering the cost of living for Americans at the end of title III.
It aims to allow the Chairman of the Committee on the Budget of the Senate to revise committee allocations, aggregates, and other appropriate levels in the resolution, and make adjustments to the pay-as-you-go ledger.
This applies to one or more bills, joint resolutions, amendments, amendments between the Houses, motions, or conference reports that relate to lowering the cost of living for Americans.
The changes may include prohibiting cuts to supplemental nutrition assistance program benefits for Americans under the Food and Nutrition Act of 2008.
These adjustments can be made by the amounts provided in such legislation, as long as the legislation does not increase the deficit over the total period of fiscal years 2025 through 2034.
