What this amendment would do

Mr. Peters submitted this amendment, known as SA 820, to be proposed for the concurrent resolution on the budget for fiscal year 2025 through 2034.

Its purpose is to add a deficit-neutral reserve fund that relates to protecting the safety and well-being of families and communities near proposed oil or natural gas pipeline routes and other proposed pipeline facility locations.

The amendment aims to allow the Chairman of the Senate Committee on the Budget to revise committee allocations, aggregates, and other levels for legislation that protects the safety and well-being of families and communities. This includes prohibiting expedited environmental reviews of oil or natural gas pipeline project proposals, as long as the legislation does not increase the deficit from fiscal year 2025 through 2034.
