What this amendment would do

Mr. Booker submitted amendment SA 797, which proposes to add a deficit-neutral reserve fund relating to preventing the spoilage of United States commodities to the concurrent resolution on the budget for fiscal year 2025.

The purpose of this amendment is to allow the Chairman of the Senate Committee on the Budget to revise allocations and make adjustments for legislation related to supporting American farmers and agricultural workers.

Specifically, it aims to add legislation that can authorize or fund the delivery or prevent the spoilage of commodities, including those that American farmers provide for international food aid.

To keep our officials accountable, it is important to note that this can only happen if the legislation does not increase the deficit over the total period of fiscal years 2025 through 2034.
