What this amendment would do
Mr. Booker submitted amendment SA 786 to the concurrent resolution setting forth the congressional budget for the United States Government for fiscal year 2025 and setting forth the appropriate budgetary levels for fiscal years 2026 through 2034.
The purpose of this amendment is to add a deficit-neutral reserve fund relating to protecting scientific research at the end of title III.
Here is what the amendment aims to do:
-
Allow the Chairman of the Committee on the Budget of the Senate to revise allocations, aggregates, and other appropriate levels in the resolution.
-
Allow the Chairman to make adjustments to the pay-as-you-go ledger for legislation relating to helping scientific researchers.
-
Include lifting any freezing of Federal funding and external communication for scientific researchers, provided the legislation does not increase the deficit over the period of the total of fiscal years 2025 through 2034.
