What this amendment would do
Mr. Booker submitted SA 775, which proposes adding a new deficit-neutral reserve fund relating to protecting American farmers from broken contracts to the concurrent resolution.
Its Purpose
The purpose of this amendment is to allow the Chairman of the Committee on the Budget of the Senate to revise committee allocations, aggregates, and other appropriate levels, and make adjustments to the pay-as-you-go ledger. This can be done for legislation relating to protecting American farmers, as long as the legislation does not increase the deficit over the period of fiscal years 2025 through 2034.
What It Aims to Change or Add
- It adds a deficit-neutral reserve fund relating to protecting American farmers from broken contracts at the end of title III.
- It allows for adjustments and revisions for legislation that protects American farmers, which may include prohibiting the withholding of any reimbursement from a farmer who has outlaid funds in accordance with a signed contract with the Federal Government.
