What this amendment would do
Mr. Bennet submitted SA 769, which is an amendment related to the congressional budget for the United States Government for fiscal year 2025 and the budgetary levels for fiscal years 2026 through 2034.
The purpose of this amendment is to add a deficit-neutral reserve fund relating to protecting access for farmers to United States Department of Agriculture programs.
It aims to allow the Chairman of the Committee on the Budget of the Senate to revise allocations, aggregates, and other appropriate levels in the resolution, and make adjustments to the pay-as-you-go ledger.
This can be done for legislation relating to protecting access for farmers to programs of the Department of Agriculture, as long as that legislation does not increase the deficit over the total period of fiscal years 2025 through 2034.
- Prohibiting provisions of law that undermine the ability of the Department of Agriculture to deliver critical services and programming
- Preventing a decrease in funding for field staff
