What this amendment would do
Mr. Bennet submitted this amendment, numbered SA 767, to be proposed for the concurrent resolution on the budget for fiscal year 2025 through 2034. As folks we have elected to office make decisions about our budget, it is our job to keep a close eye on what they are prioritizing.
What It Aims to Change or Add
- It adds a new section to the end of title III relating to protecting food safety.
- It allows the Chairman of the Committee on the Budget of the Senate to revise certain committee allocations, aggregates, and other levels, and make adjustments to the pay-as-you-go ledger.
- This applies to legislation relating to protecting food safety, which can include prohibiting provisions that result in fewer food safety inspectors.
- Any changes are only allowed if the legislation does not increase the deficit over the total period of fiscal years 2025 through 2034.
