What this amendment would do

Mr. Bennet, along with Ms. Klobuchar, submitted SA 765 to the concurrent resolution S. Con. Res. 7 for the fiscal year 2025 budget. Common sense tells us we need to keep our elected officials accountable, and this amendment focuses directly on protecting farm income for American farmers by preventing cuts to voluntary conservation programs.

Key Details of the Change

  • The amendment adds a new section to the end of title III called a DEFICIT-NEUTRAL RESERVE FUND RELATING TO PROTECTING FARM INCOME FOR AMERICAN FARMERS BY PREVENTING CUTS TO VOLUNTARY CONSERVATION PROGRAMS.

  • It allows the Chairman of the Committee on the Budget of the Senate to revise committee allocations, aggregates, and other levels.

  • These revisions can be made for bills, joint resolutions, amendments, or other legislative actions that protect farm income and prohibit funding cuts to voluntary conservation programs.

  • The catch to keep things responsible is that the legislation would not increase the deficit over the total period of fiscal years 2025 through 2034.
