What this amendment would do

Mr. Peters submitted the amendment, designated as SA 749, to the concurrent resolution setting forth the congressional budget for the United States Government for fiscal year 2025 and setting forth the appropriate budgetary levels for fiscal years 2026 through 2034.

What it Aims to Change or Add

  • It adds a new deficit-neutral reserve fund relating to prohibiting energy exports if the sitting President has declared a national energy emergency at the end of title III.

  • It allows the Chairman of the Committee on the Budget of the Senate to revise committee allocations, aggregates, and other appropriate levels in the resolution.

  • It permits adjustments to the pay-as-you-go ledger for legislation relating to lowering energy costs for the people of the United States.

  • It includes prohibiting energy exports if the sitting President has declared a national emergency with respect to energy as part of the legislation for lowering energy costs.

  • It requires that the legislation would not increase the deficit over the total period of fiscal years 2025 through 2034.
