What this amendment would do
Mr. Peters submitted amendment SA 745 to be proposed to the concurrent resolution S. Con. Res. 7, which sets forth the congressional budget for the United States Government for fiscal year 2025 and the appropriate budgetary levels for fiscal years 2026 through 2034.
The purpose of this amendment is to add a deficit-neutral reserve fund relating to ensuring that no liquified natural gas is exported if the sitting President has declared a national energy emergency.
It aims to allow the Chairman of the Committee on the Budget of the Senate to revise allocations, aggregates, and other appropriate levels in the resolution, and make adjustments to the pay-as-you-go ledger. This is for legislation relating to lowering energy costs for United States families, individuals, and businesses, which may include prohibiting liquified natural gas exports if the sitting President has declared a national energy emergency, provided that the legislation does not increase the deficit over the period of fiscal years 2025 through 2034.
