What this amendment would do

SA 742, submitted by Mr. Reed along with Ms. Warren, Mrs. Shaheen, and Mr. Ossoff, sets up a deficit-neutral reserve fund.

  • Its purpose is to relate to the protection of members of the Armed Forces and their families.
  • It aims to allow the Chairman of the Committee on the Budget of the Senate to make adjustments and revise allocations for legislation that prevents financial abuses and predatory lending targeting active duty members of the Armed Forces and their families.
  • To happen, this legislation must not increase the deficit over the total period of fiscal years 2025 through 2034.
