What this amendment would do
Ms. Blunt Rochester put forward an amendment, SA 740, which deals with the budget for the United States Government for fiscal year 2025 and sets levels through 2034.
What It Aims to Change or Add
- The amendment adds a new section to the end of title III of the concurrent resolution.
- It creates a deficit-neutral reserve fund.
- This fund is for preventing the indiscriminate termination of Federal employees who protect urban, suburban, and rural communities from pollution.
- These workers can include scientists, engineers, public health and environmental experts, or other employees at the Environmental Protection Agency.
- It allows the Chairman of the Committee on the Budget of the Senate to revise allocations, aggregates, and other appropriate levels, and make adjustments to the pay-as-you-go ledger.
- This applies to legislation relating to preventing these terminations, as long as the legislation would not increase the deficit over the total period of fiscal years 2025 through 2034.
