What this amendment would do

Mr. King submitted an amendment, known as SA 718, which deals with the congressional budget for the United States Government for fiscal year 2025 and the levels for fiscal years 2026 through 2034.

What The Amendment Aims To Do

The purpose of this amendment is to add a deficit-neutral reserve fund relating to search and rescue operations at the end of title III.

It allows the Chairman of the Committee on the Budget of the Senate to change committee allocations, aggregates, and other levels, and adjust the pay-as-you-go ledger. This can be done for legislation related to search and rescue operations, which may include legislation that would bolster Coast Guard operations based out of remote duty stations within the United States.

These changes can only happen as long as the legislation does not increase the deficit over the total period of fiscal years 2025 through 2034.
