What this amendment would do
Mr. Lujan submitted amendment SA 689 to be proposed to the concurrent resolution on the budget for fiscal year 2025.
The purpose of this amendment is to add a deficit-neutral reserve fund relating to Medicaid for pregnant women and children at the end of title III.
It aims to allow the Chairman of the Senate Committee on the Budget to revise allocations, aggregates, and other appropriate levels, and make adjustments to the pay-as-you-go ledger for legislation relating to ensuring Medicaid is accessible, including to pregnant women and children under 5 years of age.
Specifically, it adds provisions to ensure access by not providing monies or incentives for imposing barriers that reduce necessary access to health care, provided that the legislation does not increase the deficit over the period of the total of fiscal years 2025 through 2034.
