What this amendment would do
Mr. Luján submitted SA 688, which is an amendment intended to be proposed for the concurrent resolution on the budget for fiscal year 2025.
-
The amendment adds a new section to title III regarding a deficit-neutral reserve fund for staffing at the Indian Health Service.
-
It allows the Chairman of the Committee on the Budget of the Senate to make changes to committee allocations, aggregates, and other levels.
-
These adjustments can be made for legislation relating to health care for American Indians and Alaska Natives.
-
The purpose is to ensure sufficient staffing and funding for the Indian Health Service so that beneficiaries can access timely and appropriate health care.
-
It aims to make sure the United States upholds its trust responsibility to Indian Tribes, as long as the legislation does not increase the deficit from fiscal year 2025 through 2034.
