What this amendment would do
Mr. Luján submitted amendment SA 680 to be proposed for the concurrent resolution S. Con. Res. 7, which sets the congressional budget for the United States Government for fiscal year 2025 and sets budgetary levels for fiscal years 2026 through 2034.
Purpose and changes
The amendment aims to add a deficit-neutral reserve fund relating to the safety and security of the United States nuclear stockpile at the end of title III.
- It allows the Chairman of the Committee on the Budget of the Senate to revise committee allocations, aggregates, and other appropriate levels in the resolution.
- It allows the Chairman to make adjustments to the pay-as-you-go ledger for bills, joint resolutions, amendments, amendments between the Houses, motions, or conference reports.
- These adjustments relate to the safety, security, and reliability of the nuclear stockpile of the United States, which includes the critical importance of employees of the National Nuclear Security Administration.
- The changes are allowed by the amounts provided in such legislation for those purposes, provided that the legislation does not increase the deficit over the period of the total of fiscal years 2025 through 2034.
