Changes bill
119-SCONRES-7 — An original concurrent resolution setting forth the congressional budget for the United States Government for fiscal year 2025 and setting forth the appropriate budgetary levels for fiscal years 2026 through 2034.
  1. Introduced
  2. Pending Consideration

What this amendment would do

Mr. Luján submitted amendment SA 679, which proposes to add a deficit-neutral reserve fund relating to safety critical staffing at the Federal Aviation Administration to the concurrent resolution.

The purpose of this amendment is to allow the Chairman of the Committee on the Budget of the Senate to revise allocations, aggregates, and other levels. This allows adjustments for legislation relating to ensuring that the Federal Aviation Administration has the appropriate staffing to respond to aviation safety incidents.

The amendment aims to change the bill by allowing this adjustment as long as the legislation does not increase the deficit over the total fiscal years of 2025 through 2034. Specifically, it can include the hiring of:

  • Maintenance mechanics

  • Aviation safety inspectors

  • Air traffic controllers

  • Other aviation safety professionals that contribute to the Federal Aviation Administration's safety mission
