What this amendment would do

This is amendment SA 676, submitted by Mr. Luján. The purpose of this amendment is to add a deficit-neutral reserve fund relating to grant programs for firefighters to the concurrent resolution.

Here is what the amendment aims to do:

  • Allow the Chairman of the Committee on the Budget of the Senate to revise allocations, aggregates, and other appropriate levels

  • Make adjustments to the pay-as-you-go ledger for legislation relating to supporting initiatives for fire departments and volunteer firefighter interest organizations

  • Provide assistance to help these departments and organizations increase or maintain the number of trained, front-line firefighters available in their communities, including through specific grants under the Federal Fire Prevention and Control Act of 1974

  • Ensure that the legislation does this by not increasing the deficit over the total period of fiscal years 2025 through 2034
