What this amendment would do
SA 6653, submitted by Mr. Lankford, aims to add a new section to bill S. 4784 regarding the assessment of Turkey's procurement of dual-use military components and technologies.
The purpose of this amendment is to require the Director of the Defense Intelligence Agency to conduct an assessment on:
- The nature and scope of how Turkey procures dual-use military technologies and components.
- How much Turkey's co-production and acquisition efforts involve Chinese military companies.
Additionally, the amendment requires the Secretary of Defense to submit a report on these findings to the congressional defense committees within 60 days of the Act's enactment. This report must be unclassified but can include a classified annex.
