What this amendment would do

This amendment, submitted by Mr. Johnson, aims to add a new section (SEC. 1094) to bill S. 4784. The purpose is to allow for the release of a reversionary interest held by the United States regarding specific State forest land in the Black River State Forest in Millston, Wisconsin.

  • The Goal: To enable a land exchange between the State of Wisconsin and a business called Deli, Inc. (a sphagnum moss production business).

  • The Exchange: The State would convey the State forest land (approximately 31.83 acres) to Deli, Inc. in exchange for Deli land (approximately 37.27 acres). Once the exchange happens, the Deli land would be added to the Black River State Forest.

  • The Action: If the State provides a written agreement for this exchange, the United States will release its interest in the State forest land. The Secretary of Agriculture is tasked with providing a quitclaim deed to the State to finalize this release.
