What this amendment would do
Mr. Welch submitted the amendment, known as SA 654, to the concurrent resolution S. Con. Res. 7 for the fiscal year 2025 congressional budget.
The purpose of this amendment is to add a deficit-neutral reserve fund that relates to studying the impact of consolidation on food prices. It aims to allow the Chairman of the Committee on the Budget of the Senate to revise committee allocations, aggregates, and other appropriate levels in the resolution. It also allows the Chairman to make adjustments to the pay-as-you-go ledger for legislation relating to addressing the rising costs of food by studying the impact that consolidation in the food industry has on food prices.
To make these changes happen, the legislation must not increase the deficit over the total period of fiscal years 2025 through 2034.
